Blory #3 A Stinkerspy Socks Life

As a sock, I had always been proud of the fact that I managed to consistently escape the evil clutches of the lady with the laundry hamper. You see, I, Sebastian, am one of the infamous stinkerspy socks. I had been very confident, doing things no other stinkerspy sock dared to do. I believed that I was invincible, but I was proved wrong.

***

So as to not confuse you, I will first tell you that we socks are all actually alive and kicking, not the dead things that you think us to be. With that secret revealed, you may also wonder what happens to the socks that have lost the other half of their pair or have become holey and useless. Well, let me tell you a little secret, we lone socks are actually hidden all around every house in the world and are secretly planning for the downfall of the ladies with the laundry hamper and their rumbling box companions that cleans things. We have organized ourselves into many groups in order to have this dream of ours come true.
There are the stinker socks, who lure the lady with the laundry hamper away from our base of operations and recruit new socks, then there are the spy socks, who watch every move of the lady with the laundry hamper and the teenage boy that lives with her. There are also the brain socks that plan our every move and tell the stinker socks how to hinder the cleaning of the lady with the laundry hamper. But, then there are the stinkerspy socks who are one of a kind. They are the ones charged with the special task of rescuing socks from the demise that all socks fear-being thrown away.
There are many horror stories told at night about famous socks that had saved hundreds of socks from the trash can but in the end had all been captured and thrown away. Those socks had never been seen again but some of the brain socks had claimed that they had seen pictures of the few remnants of the socks after they had been thrown away. I had vowed never to become one of those wool pieces blowing in the wind but as all vows eventually turn out, it was broken.

***

“NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!” I hollered as the lady with the laundry hamper lifted me off the messy floor that I called home. My sock friends had hidden themselves among the clothes that lay strewn across the floor, only able to watch in horror as I was captured by the lady. I tried to wriggle free from her meaty hand but I could do nothing to stop it, my fate was inevitable. The lady stuffed my head into a basket of other dirty clothes and seeing that it was full, left the room to dump the clothes in yet another basket.
After I succeeded in wriggling out of the mound of clothes that were crushing me, I studied my surrounding, hoping to find a way to escape. I was not going to die here! I would definitely find a way to escape! I tried to pull myself out one of the holes in the basket but it was futile. I was just about ready to give up when the boxers beside me moved and I turned in surprise.
“Yo dude, what are you doing here?” the boxers drawled.
“Never mind me, why are you here? I thought the holey boxers were part of the Icky Rebellion.” I replied mystified.
“Meh, I was tired of all that running so I gave up and now here I am”
“Don’t you feel the urge to resist?”
“Nah, when you get to this age my boy, you get tired of all these petty squabbles”
“Our rebellion isn’t petty! It’s a sign of spirit! Of resistance! Of all things that make us independent creatures!”
“Think what you want, it matters not to me, I’m just a pair of holey boxers”
I could not believe this! Did this pair of boxers represent the morale of our troops? I thought that the rebellion had far more support than this! This revelation only fueled my desire to escape even more. I began to plan my escape instead of trying to force my was out but in the midst of it the teenage boy who's room I lived in came in. He had this evil grin on his face and I had a feeling who was going to do something quite appalling. He did. He reached into the basket in which I was situated and I was torn yet again from my resting place. I sighed, if this kept on happening, I would get used to it.
The boy carried me back to his room which was pretty good except for the fact that he reached into a place us socks had never dared to explore, ever. The closet door was opened and what came out in his hand was a paper shredder. I relaxed. He was probably going to toss me somewhere in his room and shred his homework or something. I squinted in an attempt to see how many things he had shredded and what I saw filled me with dread. The woolly remains of my fallen comrades lay in the bottom of the paper shredder and I guessed that I would have the same fate. Yet again I struggled pointlessly but in the end I was stuffed into the paper shredder anyway. As a last valiant effort, I sunk my mini sock teeth into the boys hand. I hope I gave him the only lethal disease socks have, sockitis, for all the pain he put me through. I HOPE YOU DIE WITH ME STUPID BOY!
At least I'm in sock heaven now . :)

Blory#2, The Egg That Could Fly

The egg we are going to talk about in this story is not just any egg. It is a very special egg, that was manufactured by the greatest minds that have ever lived. Scientists had tinkered with its DNA by melding human and bird genes together and their objective was to create a human that could fly. The egg was their 522nd experiment, and all the ones before had either produced abhorrent mutations of a human and bird or had never hatched. The scientists were sure that this one was sure to be a success, it had to be! They scurried around the lab making the final preparations for its hatching and failed to notice the girl hidden in the shadows watching their every move...

Zach was a normal guy, well, at least in his terms. All he did was study and try to appease his parents who were famous astronauts but it never worked. He was a loner because everyone in his school thought that he was snotty and a brat because he had famous and rich parents. But as long as he was secretly working on a project that would blast him into space and beyond, he didn't care what others thought of him. His shuttle would take him on an adventure that would far surpass those of other people! He wouldn't have to live unacknowledged and his parents and the people at school would finally recognize him as a real man. Grown up and ready to take on the world!
Zach shook his head to rid himself of his dreams and returned to the present. He had to finish his invention before his parent's birthday. His agile hands flew over his contraption and as he assembled the parts meticulously a lock of his sandy brown hair fell in front of his eyes. He brushed it away in annoyance but as more hair fell, the irritated Zach had to stand up to stretch his lanky limbs and fix his hair. He caught a glimpse of his hazel coloured eyes in the mirror and his inventions in the display case behind him. He smirked and envisioned the amazing shuttle that would help him discover new habitable planets that humans could live on when it was completed. The muffled sound of a car door being slammed yanked him out of his daydreams and Zach hurriedly carried the invention out the back door and stuffed it into some bushes. He rushed back inside to greet his parents and to pretend that he had been working on his homework the whole time.

The girl eyed the boy as he entered back into the house. Her muddled head decided that the contraption that he had poorly concealed would be a good hiding spot and as she staggered over to it, the many wounds she had received from the struggle with the scientists after she had been caught stealing the egg bled heavily. She collapsed into the bushes and fell into a deep dreamless sleep with her body curled around the egg.

"Hey Zach, what have you been doing?" His mother's head popped out from behind the door.
"Nothing Mum, just finishing up my homework" Zach replied.
"I heard you had your math test returned to you, can I see it?"
"Umm...sure..." He hesitantly said. He turned around to grab his backpack and pulled out his crumpled math test. A feeling of dread started to build up inside of him as the slip of paper left his hands and entered his mother's.
"Zach..."she began,"I expected better than this. We've been over this so many times. Can't you just understand my feelings?" She flipped over the paper to show Zach the number that he had received on the test. A big fat 99 in red pen was circled the top of the paper."It should be easy for you to get perfect. Why can't you make that happen?" Zach stayed silent ashamed of himself. His mother stared at him waiting for an answer but she gave up after a few moments. "Try to get perfect on you next test OK honey?" She stood up and gave him a kiss on the forehead and left the room.
Zach sat there for a while doing nothing until he heard a strange rustling outside."Strange," he thought, "could there be an animal in the garden?" He stood up and looked through his window. He could see nothing but just as he was about to dismiss the rustling as a figment of his imagination, he heard it again. This time, he saw a thin pair of legs peeking out from under a bush. He bolted down the stairs to investigate the mysterious thing he had seen and just before he reached the back door, he paused and started to sneakily tiptoe to the pair of legs. As he approached, the legs made no signs of movement and just as he was about to bend down and grab the legs, they shot back into the bush and a pair of green eyes opened and stared out at him. A thin arm snaked out from between the branches and seized his hand. Zach sat there stunned at the speed at which it had happened until a hoarse voice whispered urgently, "My name is Calypso, please save me."

Blory 1 Nerlman`s Adventure

"NERLMAN GERFATI HOREDOFA KLEWN!" The voice that bellowed the name echoed throughout the swamp. All the creatures immediately fell silent and the abruptly, the only sound was the wind swooshing in and out, oblivious to the fury in Mama Frog's voice. Nobody liked to see Mama Frog dole out her punishments to her children, it left many giving thanks at night to their little animal gods that they weren't born a frog.

"Oh dear," thought Nerlman as he hopped briskly though the reeds in a fashion that was hopefully inconspicuous, "better not let Mama see me now, who knows what she'll do this time." He shuddered as he thought of the last time he got caught for dropping poop in his younger brother's fly soup. The animals watching Nerlman speculated at why he bothered to run at all, in the end, Nerlman was always caught and always sentenced to yet another one of Mama Frog's frightening punishments in hopes that he would finally learn his lesson and let peace descend in the swamp.

Nerlman continued to hop although he started slowing down and began to look warily around him as if he expected a great terror to appear at any second. The squirrels above him chattered as they gambled on how long Nerlman would last. They placed a few acorns in between them and waited for the final outcome as they sat in a tree that overlooked the frog. Nerlman finally came to a standstill at a little patch bare of reeds and the whole swamp held its breath as the final deciding moment came. Some of the reeds near Nerlman moved suspiciously and he backed away fearing that just the slightest move would mean yet another round of torture. A few reeds near him moved again as if whatever was causing the disturbance was coming closer. He knew his mother's tactics; she would throw a rock and make him think that two Mama Frogs coming toward him from different places. Bewildered, his defenses would be down and that would be the moment she would spring from her actual hiding spot and seize him victoriously again. Nerlman was prepared this time though, he would foil her plans once and for all!

For an extra bit of good luck, Nerlman pleaded silently "Please god, don't let me suffer another week of horrendous torture" as he braced himself. A twitch behind him made him whirl around to face his foe, but he was too late. Mama Frog had him bound up and trussed with a speed that only came with years of practice. "Ha Nerlman! Didn't think this old hag would get you again did you?" jeered Mama frog as she had him carried by a few snakes back to their humble little burrow.

***

The little burrow did not look impressive from the outside, but for those who knew it well, it was actually connected to a massive network of caverns and tunnels. One would ponder as to why frogs needed so much space but no one knew, not even the frogs themselves. The frogs only used a few of the more substantial caverns as their meeting places but some, such as Mama frog, had transformed a small cavern into something for their personal use. Mama frog's torture chamber was moderately sized, but could surprisingly hold a lot, which included some of the most fearsome tools of torture amphibians had ever seen. Years of chasing Nerlman had made her collection of tools diverse and intimidating. Most of the tools were actually handmade by Mama Frog, who could transmogrify a single blade of grass into a deadly weapon that could kill legions of armies, a very dangerous trait for some but incredibly handy to Mama frog who needed to punish Nerlman every other day.

As Nerlman approached the burrow, he viewed with dread as he thought of the impending torment that awaited him. He was befuddled when the snakes did not lead him to the secret entrance of the torture chamber but instead to another hole which lead to his mother's bedroom. He was plonked down on the toadstool and left for whatever fate he had.

The frog sat fidgeting for a few minutes until a croak alerted him to Mama Frog in the doorway. "So son, you've come of age" she began. Nerlman groaned inwardly, this wasn't going to be another coming of age talk would it? Mama Frog continued, " The council and I decided to announce you as heir to our Frigglefraggle clan!" Mama frog beamed with happiness as she said this but Nerlman was completely blown away. "W-w-wait, WHAT?!" He managed to splutter out. He didn't even know there was a council! And what the croak was this talk about being heir? Mama Frog was making a foofaraw! He was completely bumfuzzled and didn't manage to get a word of complaint out before Mama Frog started up again, this time in a frenzy."We've got it COMPLETELY planned out! I have all the decorations set up and the whole town knows about it already!" She was obviously bursting with excitement and was completely different from the Mama Frog who cackled evilly while looking on as Nerlman was being punished. Her gleefulness suddenly disappeared from her face and a look of seriousness set in. "There's only one teeny tiny problem...you have to find the coveted frogstool. There are many toadstools in this world but only a few frogstools. Most frogs have never even heard of it before." Nerlman certainly hadn't. He wondered if it was tasty."You'll have to travel far far away to lands of despair, dryness, and horror!" Nerlman couldn't take it anymore, he absquatulated from the cavern.

***

Nerlman hopped around aimlessly for hours, lamenting over what he should do. He had never seen Mama Frog be so persnickety before! Tired, of all the hopping, he leaned against a weathered tree stump and muttered" If only there was a place where I could get whatever I want." The night rustled and and silence filled the air. Suddenly a soft voice moaned, "As you wish." and the stump that he leaned upon vanished. The last thing Nerlman remembered was weakly vociferating, "What the croak?!" as he tumbled into the vast pit.

***

Nerlman dreamed of many things, Mama Frog, his many punishments and devious pranks, the few friends that had aided him in his quest to prank the whole town, and other things a adolescent frog might dream about. He was having quite a lot of fun in one where he was the king and all the hoi polloi followed all his orders when he was swiftly awoken by an anonymous thing. Startled, he looked around expecting to see a creature but instead seeing a luscious landscape of rolling hills teeming with life and pulchritude. A magnificent luminous humanoid figure was gently wafting closer to Nerlman. "Dear Nerlman, what is your wish?"it said in a tinkling voice. The flabbergasted Nerlman replied "I, Nerlman Gerfati Horedofa Klewn, wish to seek out the coveted frogstool."
"Why do you wish to seek it?" replied the mysterious figure.
"Because I want to become the leader of the Frigglefraggle clan."
"Is there not another wish you have? For I can only grant one."
"No, I only crave to become the leader of the Frigglefraggles."
The figure shrugged,"If that truly is your wish, so be it."
With a swish of her hand, the landscape swiftly faded to black and Nerlman the frog was sent back to the pit of darkness to make the journey back to his world.

***

When Nerlman woke again, it was daylight and he could hear Mama Frog caterwauling her poor little frog her out. He found himself clutching the frogstool and he heaved himself up on his 4 froggy legs and prepared for the long trek back to the town of Frigglefraggles.
When he arrived, all the towns people were talking folderol about him and some were being lugubrious. The few that spotted him immediatly made a huge racket and by the time he reached town square, half the town was following him and the other half was waiting at the square. Mama Frog proudly lifted the frogstool out of his hands and declared, "Today, us Frigglefraggles have a new leader! May everyone please look to...Nerlman!" All the frogs clapped and made a brouhaha. A few came up and patted him on the back, saying their congratulations and hoping to suck up to Nerlman. He politely shook their hands and shared a fly with them which was completely mystifying as the Nerlman who they all knew would rather kill himself than shake a hand. They didn't complain though, all the frogs liked this new Nerlman better.
In the end Nerlman became a magnanimous and philanthropic king and the Frigglefraggle clan prospered under his rule.

The End
